Glossary of terms beginning with G and H: Gifts, Graduations, Holiday, Holiday Season
Gifts - Gifts, or presents, are items given to someone for free and usually without reciprocation. Gifts are mainly given for a special occasion or event, such as Christmas, birthdays, weddings, and more. Gifts can be any object or item, and they can be purchased or made as DIY crafts. Presents can also be in the form of experiences, such as concert tickets or travel plans.
Graduations - Graduations mark the completion of a certain level of education, whether it’s college graduation, high school graduation, or other. Upon graduating, the graduate receives a diploma, degree, or some form of certification showing they’ve completed the educational and/or time requirements.
Holiday - A holiday is a day of celebration, either tied to religion or national observance. In the U.S. the main holiday season is during the winter when Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are celebrated. If holidays are recognized at the national level, they’ll usually include time off from work and different hours of operation for businesses like stores and banks.
Holiday Season - The holiday season, also known as the Christmas season happens annually from November to January. It incorporates many holidays of the year, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.
